As the Athletics are getting set to start their time in West Sacramento, they’re also keeping an eye on their future home of Las Vegas, announcing a new “Las Vegas” jersey sleeve patch this evening. The three-year marketing partnership with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority will place a “Las Vegas” patch on the team’s home white, road grey, and alternate Kelly green and gold jerseys beginning on Opening Day, March 27th.
The franchise’s first uniform advertisement will feature a scripted “Vegas” wordmark with “LAS” above and to the right, all in green and worn on the player’s dominant hand sleeve. It will remain on the A’s uniforms through 2027, covering the team’s final three seasons before their expected move to Southern Nevada in 2028. The addition marks the first time a Major League team has used a jersey patch to promote its future home city while still playing in another location.
“For the Athletics, this partnership is more than just a jersey patch—it’s the beginning of the transition to our new home,” said A’s owner John Fisher in the press release. “This is a chance to wear our hearts on our sleeves for the next three years before bringing the vibrant spirit of our new home front and center across our uniform.”
The LVCVA, which oversees marketing for Las Vegas tourism, sees the partnership as an opportunity to showcase Las Vegas as a sports destination. “Las Vegas will be in the spotlight during every A’s game over the next three years,” said Steve Hill, CEO and president of the LVCVA. “Whether the team is on the field in Sacramento, Boston, or anywhere in between, this patch serves as a constant reminder that Major League Baseball is coming to Las Vegas and reinforces Las Vegas as a world-class sports destination.”

The partnership is unique among corporate jersey patches, focusing not on a private brand but on an entire city’s tourism identity. “This is a unique corporate patch because it’s being used to market Las Vegas itself,” said an A’s spokesperson during a conversation with SportsLogos.Net. “Their focus is on introducing and bringing people to Las Vegas, and having their name on our uniform for three years—across 30 cities and internationally—helps them from a marketing standpoint. At the same time, it benefits us from a branding standpoint because Las Vegas is our future home. We get to wear the name for three years before it officially appears across our chest.”
Unlike some jersey sponsorships, where patches are often distinct from the uniform design, the A’s and LVCVA worked together to ensure that the Las Vegas patch blended seamlessly with the team’s colour scheme. “When we spoke with them about the patch’s design, they wanted it to feel seamless—not like a separate corporate logo but something that fits naturally with the A’s identity. They wanted it to feel connected to the team.”
The Athletics will spend the next three seasons playing in Sacramento’s Sutter Health Park, recognizing their temporary home with a separate, previously announced Sacramento patch on the sleeve opposite this new patch. With the Las Vegas and Sacramento patches being worn simultaneously, the A’s uniforms will reflect both their future and present as they play out their final three seasons in California.
“Sacramento will be our home for the next three years, and everyone there is taking it seriously—they want to create the most unique Major League Baseball experience we’ve ever seen,” the team noted. “That’s important, but at the same time, this patch is an opportunity to help connect us to our future home over the next three years while also showcasing the power of Major League Baseball on a local, regional, national, and international scale.”

As the press release points out, the partnership extends beyond the patch on the jerseys, “As the ‘Official Destination Partner of the A’s,’ the club and the LVCVA will collaborate on a variety of marketing initiatives designed to bring the Las Vegas experience to fans both at the ballpark and online. Fans will have the opportunity to engage with exclusive content, promotions and events that provide a sneak peek at what awaits baseball fans in Las Vegas.”
Fans will see the Las Vegas patch on the A’s jerseys for the first time when they take the field on March 27th in Seattle before their first home game in Sacramento on March 31st. The Athletics are relocating to Sacramento for the 2025-2027 seasons after 57 years in Oakland, where they won four World Series titles.
The Athletics will play without a geographical identifier during their time in Sacramento; they’ll simply be known as the Athletics (or just A’s for short). For the 2025 season, the team will wear the same uniforms as last season, with all references to “Oakland” replaced with “Athletics” and the elephant patch on the jersey sleeves replaced with a new Sacramento patch. Along with these changes, the team will wear a memorial sleeve patch honouring longtime A’s legend Rickey Henderson, featuring his number 24 in gold on a green circle.
