The Bucs have some starters and key players returning for their game on Sunday against the 49ers, but also have a couple of other players that will be out. Head coach Todd Bowles officially ruled out cornerbacks Zyon McCollum and Benjamin Morrison, wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin Jr. and running backs Bucky Irving and Josh Williams for the game.
Defensive back Christian Izien is listed as questionable on the Friday injury report, while Jamel Dean is a full go after missing the previous week. The addition of Dean and the hopeful return of Izien helps Tampa Bay with some more flexibility in their secondary. Dean can start at outside corner and Izien can play in the slot, allowing for Jacob Parrish to remain just at outside corner instead of moving to nickel on some plays and outside on others.

It was expected that Mike Evans and Bucky Irving were going to be out, but it’s really unfortunate about Chris Godwin Jr. and Josh Williams. Godwin was just able to come back in Week 4 and play the last two games after being out for 11 months. He was knocking the rest off but was still able to make plays. According the Todd Bowles, his fibula injury is different from the injury he was returning from.
“It is a different [part of his] fibula – a different part of his leg,” Bowles said. “He is week-to-week with that one.
Bowles also revealed that Josh Williams was put into concussion protocol after Thursday’s practice. Williams finally made his NFL debut last week as the Bucs’ kick returner. He’ll have to wait and recover for his next opportunity. That leaves Tampa Bay with just two running backs going into the game with Rachaad White and Sean Tucker. It’s possible that they call up Owen Wright from the practice squad, who they just signed this week. Wright was with Tampa Bay during training camp and the preseason.
