Bucs To Host Starting-Caliber Cornerback On Official 30 Visit fasterkora.xyz

In what is expected to be a defensive-minded drive for Tampa Bay later this month, the Bucs continue to bring in defensive players for official 30 visits. The latest one is East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. as first reported by Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.

Revel, who is one of the top cornerbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft, had a formal meeting with the Bucs at Indianapolis at the NFL Scouting Combine in March. Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles likes long, lengthy cornerbacks on the outside, and at 6-foot-2, 194 pounds, Revel certainly meets the size expectations.

Revel’s senior season with the Pirates was off to a great start before a torn ACL in the third game of the year ended his college career prematurely. He’s on the mend from that injury, but has been unable to work out this offseason, including at the Combine. Revel is expected to be ready to participate in training camp during his rookie season, which is good news for the team that drafts him.

Bucs head coach Todd Bowles has said he is looking for ballhawks in the secondary this offseason. Even though Shavon Revel Jr. only had three interceptions in three seasons at East Carolina, he had two of them in the first three games of the 2024 season, including a pick-six against Appalachian State.

Revel has long arms that are almost 33 inches in length and that helped him record 15 career pass breakups. He’s a fast and physical cornerback with sub-4.5 speed that would fit in perfectly in Tampa Bay’s defense, which has a pair of starting-caliber cornerbacks in Zyon McCollum (6-2, 199) and Jamel Dean (6-1, 206). The Bucs are looking to replace Dean, who has disappointed over the past two years, missing games with injuries and only producing just one interception. Revel has the ability to step in as a rookie and compete for the starting job.

The Bucs have three official 30 visits scheduled with cornerbacks so far this offseason. Kansas State’s Jacob Parrish and Oregon’s Nikko Reed are the other two as of now, but both are projected as nickelbacks because both are 5-foot-10. Bowles prefers longer cornerbacks on the outside and that’s where the long-legged Revel would play if he winds up going from being an East Carolina Pirate to a Tampa Bay Buccaneer.
