Everton have bolstered their defence with the signing of teenage left-back Adam Aznou from Bayern Munich for an undisclosed fee.
Aznou has signed a four-year deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and becomes the club’s fourth signing of the summer, following on from midfielder Charly Alcaraz, striker Thierno Barry and goalkeeper Mark Travers.
“I’m so happy to be here. I’m so proud to be part of this team,” Aznou told evertontv.
“The project they gave me is really good. The Premier League is the best league in the world so I’m really excited to start.
“The stadium is really nice. It gives you a good feeling and it’s good for our fans to support us. It’s perfect for us.
“I just have to say I’m really thankful to be here. I’m really proud so I will give everything in every training session and every game.”
Schooled at La Masia
Aznou came through at Barcelona’s La Masia academy before joining Bayern two years ago.
He struggled to hold down a place in the first team, however, and, having spent the second half of last season on loan at Valladolid, the 19-year-old is now excited to try his luck in the Premier League following talks with Toffees boss David Moyes.
“[Moyes] talked with me, he spoke with me about the team and how he wants me. So I decided directly when I spoke with him,” said Aznou, who is a full international for Morocco.
“I decided really quickly because of the words he gave me. He gave me confidence, so I decided to sign.”
