Giants barred Eli Manning from riding NYC subway during playing days fasterkora.xyz

Eli Manning played quarterback for the New York Giants for 16 seasons, appearing more games in a Giant uniform than any other player in the franchise’s 100-year history.

His career and accolades have been well documented and he is a semi-finalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2025 in his first year of eligibility.

This week, a little-known tidbit about Manning surfaced. In all of his time with the Giants and living in the New York Metropolitan Area, Eli never took the subway.

Until last week.

Manning was questioned by brother Peyton on Monday night’s ManningCast on why he never traveled underground in New York City.

“It was in my contract when I was playing, I wasn’t allowed to ride the subway,” Eli revealed. “I could get pushed in front of a train.”

Eli, who lives in New Jersey and has done so since joining the Giants in 2004, had another reason why he hasn’t taken a subway ride since retiring in 2019.

“I am a man of the people,” he said. “I live in New Jersey. I’m not in the city that often. I was in the city last week. I had to get from uptown to downtown — I hopped on the subway. I’m a man of the people.”

That may be so, but as much as everyone knows about the ubiquitous younger brother Peyton Manning, riding the subway was not on many fans’ lists.
