Report: Tigers acquiring Charlie Morton from Orioles fasterkora.xyz

Charlie Morton is headed to a new team.

The veteran starter and two-time World Series champion was dealt to the Detroit Tigers from the Baltimore Orioles, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported on Thursday.

Morton, 41, will join his seventh team as he competes in his 18th MLB season.

The wily righty struggled to begin his first season in Baltimore and was demoted to the bullpen for stretches in April and May.

But he returned to the rotation on May 26 and has regained his form in the process. Morton’s ERA dropped from 7.68 prior to that start to 5.42.

He has lasted at least five innings in each of his last eight starts.

Morton’s turnaround restored his value to the Orioles, who sit last in the AL East and appear to be in sell mode at the trade deadline.

For his post-season career, Morton sits 7-5 with a 3.60 ERA in 18 appearances (17 starts). He won the World Series with the Houston Astros in 2017 and the Atlanta Braves in 2021.

Morton made his regular-season debut with the Braves in 2008 and has since posted a 4.08 ERA over 406 appearances (399 starts).
