Penn State wins commitment from four-star WR over notable schools fasterkora.xyz

There was a big-time recruiting battle for four-star wide receiver Davion Brown, but ultimately, James Franklin and the Penn State Nittany Lions won it.

Brown, from Richmond, Virginia (Trinity Episcopal School), committed to PSU on Monday over the likes of Duke, Georgia and Virginia Tech.

Brown had a big year as a junior in high school, which put him on the map. He caught 42 passes for 946 yards and 10 touchdowns. That’s a yards per catch of 22.5, which means he’s got some serious big-play potential.

Though he’s from Virginia and he had the VT Hokies in his top group of schools, there was something about “Happy Valley” that just seemed right for him.

“It was something I had been feeling for a minute,” Brown told Brian Dohn of 247Sports, regarding his commitment. “It felt like home and it was just the place I wanted to be.”

Brown did have official visits to Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Georgia and Duke set up for later this month and into June, so it will be interesting to see if those still hold. Based on the way he’s talking about Penn State, it seems unlikely they will, but you never know in today’s recruiting environment.

According to 247Sports, Brown is the No. 18 wideout in the 2026 class. Penn State now has 17 hard commitments to a class that’s ranked No. 4 in the nation.
