Ole Miss QB a game-time decision ahead of clash with Arkansas fasterkora.xyz

The status of Ole Miss starting quarterback Austin Simmons appears shaky just hours before the Rebels host Arkansas.

Simmons suffered an ankle injury in Ole Miss’ 30-23 victory over Kentucky on Sept. 6 and will be a game-time decision on Saturday evening, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

According to Thamel, Simmons will be monitored during pre-game warm-ups, with backup QB Trinidad Chambliss prepared to start should Simmons be incapacitated. Per Thamel, Chambliss “received an uptick in snaps” during practice this week.

On3’s Chris Low reported that, even if Simmons can’t start Saturday’s game, there is a chance that he could still play in some capacity.

Ole Miss QB Austin Simmons has had an up-and-down season so far

Through the first two games of 2025, Simmons has thrown for 576 yards, three touchdowns and four interceptions. He struggled in Ole Miss’ SEC opener against Kentucky, throwing two interceptions and completing only 13 of 24 passes.

Regardless of the Ole Miss QB who gets the call to start, the Rebels will have to keep up with Arkansas QB Taylen Green and a Razorback offense that is averaging 54 points through its first two games of the season. Green is tied for the FBS lead in passing touchdowns this season with 10.

Kickoff between No. 17 Ole Miss (2-0) and Arkansas (2-0) is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
